World Trade Center Aerial Photos
Shot by Detective Greg Semendinger/N.Y.P.D.

Newly released aerial photographs taken by the New York City Police Department show the collapse of the World Trade Center from a different angle. Smoke billowing from one of the towers on Sept. 11, 2001.
ABC News says it obtained the images after it filed a Freedom of Information Act request last year with the National Institute of Standards and Technology, which investigated the collapse.
The images were taken from a police helicopter — the only aircraft allowed in the air space near the towers on Sept. 11, 2001.

No idea why these wouldn’t have been released before.
